Personal Life of Steve Dahl
Steve Dahl, born on 20 November 1954 in Pasadena, California USA, is an accomplished radio personality and humorist, celebrated for his hosting of “The Steve Dahl Show”.
As of early 2017, Steve Dahl’s wealth is estimated to be over $15 million. His financial success was shaped during his early foray into radio during his school years.
Earning Her Wealth
Steve Dahl was raised in La Cañada, California. Leaving school at 16, he took up a job at a local radio station and obtained his GED two years later. In 1976, he started working at Detroit station WABX-FM, where he hosted a morning show. His show gained significant popularity, achieving a market share of 7.2, which significantly increased his net worth.
Following this, he took a position at then-ABC-owned WDAI in Chicago. Subsequently, in 1978, he began hosting the “Steve Dahl’s Rude Awakening” show. However, after a lack of ratings, WDAI dismissed him and changed their formats from rock to disco.
The next year, he joined WLUP, co-hosting a morning show with Garry Meier, leading to the creation of the controversial duo ‘Steve and Garry’. Their on-air mocking of WDAI and disco records and the subsequent promotion of Disco Demolition Night, alongside colleagues and Mike Veeck, drew more than 50,000 fans to Comiskey Park, solidifying Dahl’s popularity and expanding his fan base. However, he was fired in 1981 for violating community language standards.
He and Meier released a comedy television special called “Greetings from Graceland”, which won an Emmy Award. Following this, the duo took over the afternoon shift at WLS, before returning to WLUP in 1986.
After Meier’s departure in 1993, Dahl hosted Sports Talk on WMVP AM. Following this, he hosted the “The Steve Dahl Show” on WCKG and later on WJMK. Additionally, in 2011, he started broadcasting daily podcasts from his home studio, launching the Steve Dahl Network
Aside from his radio career, Steve Dahl pursued a career in music, releasing parodies with his band Teenage Radiation. He also recorded and performed with a new band called Steve Dahl and the Dahlfins and co-wrote and provided backing vocals for the song “Your Imagination” by Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys.
Besides his radio and music career, Dahl tried his hand at acting, appearing in various films.
Steve Dahl married Janet Dahl in 1978, and they have three sons.
