Afroman police raid video is the newest and the strangest thing used by the rapper in one of his music videos. The raid footage is of none other than Afroman himself.
Seven law enforcement officials conducted a raid on his house back in August 2022. The rapper has included the alleged video in merchandise as well as social media posts.
The Ohio police officers who actually conducted the raid are now suing Afroman on account of the invasion of privacy and subsequent emotional distress.
The rapper, whose real name is Joseph Foreman, has been on the receiving end of a lawsuit filed by members of the Adams County Sheriff’s Office in Ohio.
The officers have claimed that the footage used in the music video clearly shows their faces which has caused them “emotional distress, embarrassment, ridicule, loss of reputation and humiliation.”
Surprisingly, Afroman was not present at his home when the raid was conducted. His wife, who was there, recorded bits and pieces of the search on her phone.
Additionally, several security cameras placed in the rapper’s home recorded the search from every possible angle.
The plaintiffs claim that Afroman has been wrongfully benefitting from the raid footage. Now that it is too late to take the video down, the claimants say that they are entitled to all the profits made from using their “personas.”
They claim this includes takings from his songs, music videos, and live event tickets, in addition to marketing his brand’s merchandise.
Afroman responded to the allegations and lawsuit in an Instagram post on Wednesday, March 22nd. He promised to countersue the officers “for the undeniable damage this had on his clients, family, career, and property.”
The defendant argued that the raid footage was his property as he did not obtain it from any third party. He further stated that he used the disturbing footage to raise money to pay for the damages caused by the raid on his home and possessions.
Three of the rapper’s videos posted after the raid contain footage of the raid. These include “Why You Disconnecting My Camera,” “Will You Help Me Repair My Door,” and “Lemon Pound Cake.”
Repeated use of the footage looks like a defamation scheme, and the officers may be right in their decision to sue the rapper.
